On Saturday 31 October, Circuit de Caen is hosting a race like no other: the Halloween race, a fancy-dress race in 390 cc karts, open to all drivers on booking. Meet at 11 am at the circuit in Démouville, a quarter of an hour from Caen.
A Halloween race where your costume sets the grid
For once, the stopwatch does not decide the starting grid: it is set by the costume score. The best costume starts on pole position, the least successful one starts at the back. Fancy dress is compulsory, and the better your costume, the further forward you start.

The programme
- Individual race, in the SWS Iron format.
- 15 minutes of practice, then a 45-minute solo race.
- 390 cc karts, ballasted to 90 kg.
- Starting grid set by the costume score.
The 390 cc kart is open to drivers from age 16; parental consent is required for drivers under 18. The full-face helmet and balaclava are provided, and an instructor gives the briefing before the start.
Price and booking for the Halloween race
The race costs €99 per person. Book by phone on +33 2 31 72 20 00, every day from 10 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 6 pm.
Getting your costume ready
Pick a costume you can drive in: nothing long or loose, just like scarves, closed shoes and long hair tied back. For the rest, let your imagination run wild: witches, zombies, ghosts and pumpkins are all welcome on the grid.
Family and friends can come and admire the costumes and cheer the drivers on: entry is free, the bar faces the track and screens show live lap times. To discover the circuit’s other events, read our article on SWS races and night sessions, and follow us on Instagram.
